Our vision in God's service

1978 Light of the Valley was established by our Lord through eight people.  Church services were held at Camp Caroline under the care of Rev. Waldo Boettcher and the guidance of Grace Lutheran in Escondido. Harold Lovelady served as the first "president" of the congregation.  In less than two years, the membership had grown to 80 congregants.

1992 Ground was finally broken for a new church on a two and half acre site purchased in 1982.  The present structure was erected as a “mission church” by the Builders for Christ.  A year later, on July 11, 1993, the new Light of the Valley Lutheran Church was dedicated to the service of our Lord.

2002 One of our young boy scout members earned his eagle scout badge with the construction of our children's playground.

2005 We refurbished the Sanctuary and created a children's Sunday School wing.

2006 Pastor Jeff Caithamer was ordained at Light of the Valley. 

2007  The congregation has approved a long range plan to expand church facilities for adult outreach programs, day care, pre-school and day school. 

2009 Pastor Caithamer is called to serve St. John Lutheran Church, Champaign, IL

2010  Light of the Valley called Pastor Matt Helfrich to serve. He arrived on April 15th and was installed on April 25th.Since Pastor Matt's arrival, Light of the Valley has grown and has new offerings for children, youth, & family. The worship experience has seen new life and people are reconnecting to Jesus through the loving congregation at Light of the Valley!
